The Department of Malayalam, established in 1964, is an integral pillar of the Department of Oriental Languages. The Department mainly offers the Part II Additional Language course for first and second-year Under Graduate programmes. The department also pioneered one of the most laudable initiatives of the Department of Oriental Languages, viz., Daksha, an annual quadrilingual ISBN journal featuring articles in Malayalam, Hindi, Syriac, and English.
The department currently has a faculty strength of two, including one Ph.D. holder.
